Fans of the beloved “Sound! Euphonium” franchise can mark their calendars, as “Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1” is slated to premiere in Japanese theaters on April 24, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer and key visual, offering a glimpse into the highly anticipated cinematic conclusion of the series.

The Final Chapter Begins

The “Sound! Euphonium” series, celebrated for its authentic portrayal of high school concert band life and student musicianship, is entering its final arc with a two-part theatrical release. Part 1, officially titled “Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1” (Saishū Gakushō Hibike! Euphonium Zenpen), will open in 200 theaters across Japan.

What the New Video Reveals

The recently released trailer provides a sneak peek at the film’s animation, which continues to be produced by the renowned Kyoto Animation, the studio behind all previous installments of the franchise. The video also features the ending theme song from Season 3, “Neiro no Kanata” (“Beyond the Tone”), setting an emotional tone for the upcoming movie. Along with the trailer, a new key visual was unveiled, further building anticipation for the film’s release.

Connecting to the “Sound! Euphonium” Legacy

This upcoming movie serves as a “theatrical version” of the third season of the “Sound! Euphonium” TV anime, which premiered in April 2024. The third season focused on protagonist Kumiko Oumae’s third year of high school, as she navigates the challenges of leading the Kitauji High School concert band and deals with the arrival of transfer student and fellow euphonium player, Mayu Kuroe. The anime series, based on Ayano Takeda’s novel series, began in 2015 and has garnered a dedicated global fanbase for its vivid animation and relatable characters.

Previous Installments and the Franchise’s Growth

The “Sound! Euphonium” franchise boasts a rich history, including three television seasons, several compilation films of the first two seasons, the spin-off movie “Liz and the Blue Bird,” the film “Sound! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale” (Our Promise: A Brand New Day), and a theatrical OVA titled “Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest”. These various adaptations have consistently explored the triumphs and tribulations of the Kitauji High School Music Club, following Kumiko Oumae’s journey of personal and musical growth.

10th Anniversary Celebrations

In addition to the movie announcement, Kyoto Animation has also revealed several commemorative products to mark the 10th anniversary of the “Sound! Euphonium” anime. These include a new drama CD, a Blu-ray BOX of the 10th-anniversary live events, and a wind orchestra album titled “espressivo.” These items offer fans further opportunities to delve into the world of “Sound! Euphonium” and celebrate its decade-long run.

Advanced tickets for “Sound! Euphonium, The Final Movie Part 1” will go on sale in Japan on October 31, offering bonuses such as clear files featuring the characters.
