Konami has officially revealed the main voice cast, additional production staff, and a new key visual for Suikoden: The Anime, the highly anticipated adaptation of the beloved Suikoden II RPG, set to premiere in 2026. The announcements were made at Tokyo Game Show on Saturday, building excitement for fans awaiting the faithful adaptation of the classic story.

Main Cast Brings Iconic Characters to Life

The core cast bringing the memorable characters of Suikoden II to the animated screen has been announced. Headlining the cast is Toshiki Kumagai as Riliu, the protagonist who was raised in Kyaro and is a member of the Unicorn Youth Brigade.

The confirmed main voice actors include:

  • Riliu: Toshiki Kumagai
  • Jowy Atreides: Simba Tsuchiya
  • Nanami: Ayumi Hinohara
  • Flik: Yuuichi Nakamura
  • Viktor: Katsuyuki Konishi

These actors will lend their voices to characters central to the epic tale of war, friendship, and destiny.

Expanded Production Team Detailed

In addition to the cast, Konami has unveiled more of the production staff responsible for bringing the world of Suikoden II to life. The anime is being produced by Konami Animation, marking the company’s first full anime project under its new production banner.

Key Staff Members

The creative team includes:

  • Director: Yūzō Satō (also credited as YUZO on the English website)
  • Producer & Project Manager: Ryō Hino (from NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan’s anime and music production department)
  • Series Composition: Michihiro Tsuchiya
  • Game Character Designer (Original): Fumi Ishikawa (Konami Digital Entertainment)
  • Original Drafts of Anime Character Designs: Arata Suzuki (Konami Digital Entertainment)
  • Anime Character Designer: Ryō Yamauchi
  • Sound Director: Yoshikazu Iwanami
  • Music Composer: Kōji Nakamura

The anime production will notably utilize Konami’s game technology, integrating 3D CG for camera work testing and motion capture previsualization to enhance the immersive quality of the hand-drawn animation. This hybrid approach aims to make the world feel more dynamic and to faithfully translate the game’s essence while appealing to both long-time fans and newcomers.

A Glimpse into the World with a New Visual

A new key visual for Suikoden: The Anime has been released, offering fans an evocative glimpse into the series. The illustration features protagonists Riou and Jowy sitting beside a campfire, gazing at the stars. This tranquil scene captures an early, emotional moment from the original game, hinting at the deep bonds and impending conflicts central to the narrative.

The anime is set to adapt the story of Suikoden II, which follows two childhood friends, Riou and Jowy, as they are thrust onto opposing sides of a brutal war following a failed peace treaty between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowston. The game is renowned for its expansive cast of over 140 characters, including the 108 Stars of Destiny, and its intricate political narrative.

The announcement follows the successful launch of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars in March 2025, which reignited interest in the franchise. Suikoden: The Anime is expected to debut in 2026.
