Kana Hanazawa Joins the Cast as Nanami

A significant highlight of the announcement is the addition of veteran voice actress Kana Hanazawa to the Summer Pockets cast. Hanazawa is set to voice the character Nanami, a girl who appears on Torishirojima island having lost her memories. The Summer Pockets TV anime initially premiered on Tokyo MX and BS11 on April 7, 2025, followed by broadcasts on MBS and Shizuoka Broadcasting System on April 8, AT-X on April 10, and TV Setouchi on April 11. For international viewers, Crunchyroll is streaming the series as it airs in Japan, making it accessible to a global audience. The anime previously received a compilation film that premiered in Japan on August 15.

Background of the Summer Pockets Anime

Summer Pockets is an adaptation of a visual novel developed by Key, a brand known for emotionally resonant stories such as Kanon, AIR, and Clannad. The original game first launched for PC in Japan in June 2018, with an updated version, Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE, released in June 2020. The game’s English version became available on PC via Steam in February 2020. The story revolves around Hairi Takahara, who travels to a secluded island called Torishirojima during his summer vacation, ostensibly to manage his deceased grandmother’s effects, and experiences a nostalgic summer with the island’s residents. The anime adaptation was first confirmed to be “in the works” in December 2021.

Upcoming “AFTER PARTY” Event

In related news, the Summer Pockets TV anime is set to host its largest real-world event, “AFTER PARTY,” on November 1, 2025, at Bellesalle Shiodome in Tokyo. The event will feature two performances with a total of nine voice cast members appearing on stage, offering fans an opportunity to engage with the creators and stars of the series. Ticket sales began via lottery on September 2, with further sales planned for later dates.
