Sun Jewelry’s popular original character, Hoppe-chan, is set to receive its first-ever television anime adaptation in 2026, titled HOPPECHAN -Mystery of the Sun Kingdom and the Black-Cheek Team- (Hoppe-chan ~Sun Ōkoku to Kuro Hoppe-dan no Himitsu~). Hoppe-chan Anime Series Details Emerge
The newly announced anime, HOPPECHAN -Mystery of the Sun Kingdom and the Black-Cheek Team-, will bring the beloved blob-like character to the small screen through the animation efforts of Toon Harbor Works. This marks a significant milestone for the Hoppe-chan franchise, which has primarily existed as merchandise and in collaborations.
The core cast for the series has also been unveiled. Rin Kusumi will voice Ganso (Originator) Hoppe-chan, while Kyōko Kuramochi, a member of the Amuse Dolce VTuber group, will portray Ohana (Flower) Hoppe-chan. Additional cast members include Ayaka Takamura and Ran Misato, with more roles expected to be announced. Further details regarding the anime’s plot and specific production staff are anticipated as the 2026 premiere approaches.
The Enduring Appeal of Hoppe-chan
Hoppe-chan originates from Sun Jewelry (also known as Sun Hoseki), a company recognized for its charming accessories and character goods. The character, often described as a “cute blob,” has garnered a dedicated following over the years, primarily through its merchandise.
While HOPPECHAN -Mystery of the Sun Kingdom and the Black-Cheek Team- is the character’s debut in the anime world, Hoppe-chan is not entirely new to multimedia appearances. The character has previously engaged in crossovers with well-known Sanrio characters, showcasing its versatility and widespread appeal. Furthermore, Hoppe-chan has also featured in Nintendo 3DS games, expanding its presence in the digital entertainment landscape prior to this major television series announcement. The move to a full-fledged TV anime signifies the character’s growing prominence and the potential for new storytelling avenues within the Hoppe-chan universe.
