The manga adaptation of Nozomu Mochitsuki’s popular light novel series, Tearmoon Empire, has officially concluded its first part. Manga artist Mizu Morino announced on July 16 that the series ended its initial run with its 46th chapter and the release of its 10th tankōbon volume, which shipped on Friday, August 15. Fans can rest assured, however, as Morino has confirmed that the manga will continue.
A Milestone for Princess Mia’s Journey
The conclusion of the first part marks a significant point for the beloved series, which follows the adventures of Princess Mia Luna Tearmoon, who, after being executed in her previous life, is sent back in time to her 12-year-old self. Driven by a desire to avoid her past gruesome fate, Mia endeavors to rebuild her fallen empire, often inadvertently creating positive outcomes through seemingly self-serving actions.
The manga adaptation, illustrated by Mizu Morino, began its serialization on the Comic Corona manga website on August 12, 2019. Its individual chapters have been collected into ten tankōbon volumes as of August 2025. J-Novel Club licensed the manga for English publication in May 2022.
The Enduring Appeal of Tearmoon Empire
Tearmoon Empire originated as a light novel series written by Nozomu Mochitsuki, which began publication on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō novel posting website in August 2018. TO Books later acquired the series, publishing it in print with illustrations by Gilse, and has released eighteen volumes as of August 2025. J-Novel Club also licenses the light novels for English readers.
The series has gained a considerable following due to its unique blend of fantasy, comedy, and a clever narrative that sees Princess Mia’s selfish motivations often misinterpreted as acts of genius or benevolence by those around her.
Anime Adaptation Success
Adding to its popularity, Tearmoon Empire received an anime television series adaptation by Silver Link, which aired from October to December 2023. The anime, directed by Yūshi Ibe and with scripts by Deko Akao, covered the first major arc of the story, known as “The Princess and the Guillotine.” Crunchyroll streamed the series outside of Asia, further expanding its global reach.
What’s Next for the Manga?
While specific details about the content of the manga’s second part are yet to be fully revealed, the light novel series, which is well ahead of the manga, continues to expand on Mia’s efforts to prevent future catastrophes and ensure her own safety, often leading to continent-wide changes. The overarching narrative sees Mia developing relationships with key figures, including the children of Tearmoon’s dukes, as she navigates political intrigue and unforeseen challenges.
Fans eagerly await the return of the Tearmoon Empire manga, anticipating more of Princess Mia’s hilariously self-serving yet ultimately beneficial schemes.
