The highly anticipated anime compilation film, The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Movie), has officially dropped its main trailer and key visual, igniting excitement among fans worldwide. The movie is slated to premiere in Japan on February 13, 2026, with an international release confirmed for several territories, including the United States and parts of Europe and Latin America.

A Glimpse into the Compilation Film’s Contents

The newly released main trailer offers fans a deeper look into the film, which serves as a special compilation of the beloved television anime’s first and second seasons. Beyond re-edited sections of the existing anime, the movie will feature brand new content that delves into events following Season 2. This includes a live performance scene by Kyotaro’s sister, Kana Ichikawa, and a pivotal moment between the main duo, Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada, hinting at the further development of their endearing relationship.

The main visual showcases Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada against a backdrop of beautiful cherry blossoms, emphasizing their unique and strengthening bond.

Yorushika Returns for the Theme Song

Adding another layer of anticipation, popular music duo Yorushika has been announced to perform the film’s theme song, titled “Akane” (also referred to as “Madder”). Yorushika previously captivated audiences with “Shayō” (Setting Sun), the opening theme for the anime’s first season, making their return a welcome announcement for fans of the series’ musical direction. Member n-buna expressed inspiration from Toson Shimazaki’s poetry collection, Wakana-shū, when writing “Madder,” connecting the song to the imagery of dusk and the vivid, red-hued glow of school-day nostalgia that resonates with Kyotaro and Anna’s relationship.

Production Details and International Reach

The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie is animated by Shin-Ei Animation, the same studio responsible for the critically acclaimed TV series. Hiroaki Akagi, who directed both seasons of the anime, returns as chief director, with Dali Chen joining as director. Jukki Hanada is credited for the script, while Masato Katsumata handles character design. Kensuke Ushio is composing the music.

Following its Japanese premiere on February 13, 2026, the film is slated for theatrical releases in a wide array of international markets. These include the United States, Germany, Italy, France, Mexico, Chile, Peru, and additional Central American countries, with further details regarding specific release dates and ticket sales to be announced. The movie was also showcased at Anime Expo 2025, providing early previews and announcements.

The Enduring Appeal of “The Dangers in My Heart”

Based on Norio Sakurai’s popular web manga, The Dangers in My Heart (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) tells the charming romantic comedy story of Kyotaro Ichikawa, a socially awkward boy with a penchant for the macabre, and Anna Yamada, the charismatic class idol. Their unlikely connection blossoms through heartwarming interactions, as Kyotaro discovers Anna’s quirky side and Anna finds herself drawn to Kyotaro’s genuine nature. The manga, which began serialization in 2018, has garnered significant critical acclaim for its writing, characters, and emotional depth. The anime adaptation’s first season aired from April to June 2023, followed by a second season from January to March 2024. The series has been licensed by Sentai Filmworks in North America, with both seasons available for streaming on HIDIVE.
