The ongoing sequel manga, The Demon Prince of Momochi House: Succession (Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ōji -Tsugu-), is set to conclude with its next chapter, appearing in the November issue of Kadokawa’s Asuka magazine on September 24. This marks the end of the limited serialization that began in July 2023.
A Brief History of Momochi House
Aya Shouoto’s original The Demon Prince of Momochi House (Momochi-san Chi no Ayakashi Ōji) manga captivated readers from its launch in Kadokawa’s Asuka magazine in February 2013, running until August 2019. The series, known for its blend of fantasy, romance, and supernatural elements, follows orphan Himari Momochi, who inherits a mysterious ancestral estate. This house, Momochi House, exists on the delicate barrier between the human and spiritual realms, with Himari destined to be its guardian. However, upon moving in, she discovers three handsome squatters, one of whom has already assumed her role. Viz Media’s Shojo Beat imprint published the original manga in English, releasing its 16th and final volume in October 2020.
Anime Adaptation and Stage Play
The popularity of The Demon Prince of Momochi House extended beyond manga, inspiring a drama CD and a stage play in 2015. More recently, an anime adaptation produced by Drive aired from January to March 2024.
The Sequel’s Journey
The limited sequel series, The Demon Prince of Momochi House: Succession, picked up the narrative in July 2023. Kadokawa published the second compiled book volume of the sequel in January 2024. Viz Media also holds the license for the sequel series, continuing to bring Shouoto’s work to English-speaking audiences. The impending conclusion brings to a close this continuation of Himari and Aoi’s story, which has explored new facets of their lives and the intricate world of the Momochi House.
