The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Kujira Tokiwa and Yuunagi’s popular light novel series, “The Holy Grail of Eris” (Erisu no Seihai), is officially slated to premiere in January 2026. This exciting news was revealed during a second promotional video unveiled at Anime Expo, with broadcasts planned for TBS, its affiliated stations, and BS11 in Japan.

Anime Production Details and Cast

The anime adaptation of “The Holy Grail of Eris” will be produced by Ashi Productions, with Good Smile Film and DRE Pictures handling general production. The series is directed by “Morita to Junpei” (JUMPEI & MORITA), with Kenichi Yamashita in charge of series composition and episode scripts. Character designs are handled by Chie Kawaguchi, with Jun Yukawa contributing sub-character designs. Nobuhito Sue (Kusanagi) serves as art director, Aiko Yamagami (T.D.I.) as color designer, and Yūko Kamahara (T.D.F.) as director of photography. Yuriko Sano (T.A.P.) is the editor, and Yūichi Morita is the sound director.

The main voice cast for the anime features familiar voices from the light novel’s previous drama CD. Kana Ichinose (known for Fern in Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) will star as Constance “Connie” Grail, while Sayumi Suzushiro (known for Nijika Ijichi in Bocchi the Rock!) will voice Scarlett Castiel. Additional cast members include Yōhei Azakami as Randolph Ulster and M.A.O as Lily Orlamunde.

Synopsis of “The Holy Grail of Eris”

“The Holy Grail of Eris” is a fantasy suspense series that blends elements of mystery, drama, romance, and supernatural themes. The story centers around Constance “Connie” Grail, a viscount’s daughter whose most notable trait is her sincerity. However, her life takes a drastic turn when she is falsely accused of theft and loses her fiancé at a ball.

In her moment of despair, Connie encounters the ghost of Scarlett Castiel, an infamous noblewoman who was executed ten years prior for her alleged wicked deeds. Scarlett, once praised for her beauty, lineage, and charisma, makes a bargain with Connie: in exchange for saving Connie from her predicament, Connie must help Scarlett uncover the truth behind her untimely death and the grand conspiracy that led to her execution. This unlikely duo then embarks on a quest for revenge, delving into a complex web of past secrets and political intrigue that continues to grip the present.

The Journey from Web Novel to Anime

The series originated as a web novel written by Kujira Tokiwa, which was serialized online on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō from October 2017 to August 2018. SB Creative later acquired the series, publishing four volumes with illustrations by Yuunagi under their GA Novel imprint from November 2019 to March 2022. Yen Press licenses the light novels in North America.

A manga adaptation, illustrated by Hinase Momoyama, began serialization on Square Enix’s Manga Up! website and app in November 2019. This manga adaptation has been collected into twelve tankōbon volumes as of March 2025. Yen Press also publishes the manga adaptation in English. A new edition of the light novel series, also by Tokiwa and Yuunagi, was published in five volumes by Drecom Media under their DRE Novels imprint in November 2024. Furthermore, a sequel manga titled Eris no Seihai S (The Holy Grail of Eris -SEQUEL-), illustrated by S.Kosugi, launched in October 2024.

The anime adaptation was initially announced on October 20, 2024, with a teaser video and visual unveiled at that time, along with the announcement of the main voice cast. The confirmation of a January 2026 premiere via the second promotional video at Anime Expo builds further anticipation for this highly awaited fantasy suspense series.
