Film Synopsis
“The Last Blossom” delves into the story of Minoru Akutsu, an elderly inmate serving a life sentence, who is on the verge of a solitary death. His reflection on a “rotten life” begins when a talking Housenka flower appears and speaks to him. The narrative then shifts to the summer of 1986, when Akutsu lived with Nana and her son Kensuke in a humble apartment adorned with Housenka flowers. The film is described as the tale of a dying yakuza’s triumphant one-night comeback and his family’s story, as recounted by a flower blooming in prison.
