The highly anticipated anime adaptation of “The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” (Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai) is officially set to premiere on January 6, 2026, in Japan, with Crunchyroll confirming its global streaming. In the lead-up to its debut, the production committee has unveiled additional voice cast members, further detailing the ensemble bringing the popular Boys’ Love (BL) isekai series to life.

New Voices Join the Otherworldly Accounting Department

Recent announcements have expanded the voice cast for “The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter.” Tomohiro Yamaguchi will portray Julius, the eldest prince of the Romany Kingdom, while Yuna Kamakura joins as Yua Shiraishi, a high school girl summoned as a saint to the other world. Takaaki Torashima is cast as Ist, the deputy head of magic at the royal court, and Yuki Ono will voice Siegvold, a priest working in the capital.

Even more recently, three additional cast members have been announced: Win Morisaki will take on the role of Ciro, Kazuyuki Okitsu is cast as Orjif, and Shiori Izawa will voice Serio. Morisaki will also perform the anime’s ending theme song, “Back to Back.”

Main Cast and Production Team

These new additions join the previously announced main cast, which includes Kent Ito as the protagonist Seiichirou Kondou, and Tomoaki Maeno as Aresh Indrak, the captain of the Third Royal Order. Other key cast members include Seiichiro Yamashita as Norbert and Hiroki Tochi as Kamil.

The anime is being produced by Studio DEEN, known for its work on various animated series. Shinji Ishihira is at the helm as director, with Yoshiko Nakamura handling the series composition. Character designs are being managed by Maki Fujii, and the musical score is composed by Megumi Ohashi. Akira Yamada serves as assistant director for the series.

Synopsis of the Isekai BL Adventure

“The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter” follows Seiichirou Kondou, a salaryman nearing his 30s, who finds himself accidentally transported to a parallel world known as the Romany Kingdom during a holy maiden summoning ritual. Despite being in a new world, his ingrained corporate work ethic leads him to seek employment, landing him a position in the Royal Accounting Department.

During his demanding days of rebuilding the accounting department, Seiichirou discovers a miraculous nutritional tonic that eliminates his chronic fatigue. However, lacking resistance to the new world’s magic, the tonic’s side effects place his life in peril. To survive, he must rely on someone with magical abilities to help his body acclimate to the magical energy. This leads him to Aresh, the formidable “Ice Prince” and captain of the Third Royal Order, with whom Seiichirou develops an unexpected and intimate relationship that begins as a form of medical treatment.

The series is based on the popular Boys’ Love light novel series written by Yatsuki Wakatsu and illustrated by Kikka Ohashi. It has also inspired a manga adaptation by Kazuki Irodori. Yen Press licenses both the light novel and manga in English, making the story accessible to a wider international audience.
