A new sequel anime, titled The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Kesshō Member Ketteisen (also known as The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Finals Members Decisive Match), has been officially announced with a Fall 2026 premiere window. The news comes alongside a new teaser video and visual, exciting fans of the long-running sports franchise.

The upcoming series will focus on a high-stakes playoff round to determine the players who will represent Japan in the U-17 World Cup finals against Spain.

Unveiling the Fall 2026 Premiere

The Fall 2026 debut for The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Kesshō Member Ketteisen was confirmed at a stage event at Jump Festa 2026, where a teaser visual was also revealed. This announcement follows the initial greenlighting of the sequel, which was first revealed on the official website for The Prince of Tennis II franchise in September 2025. A teaser video accompanying the announcement provides an early glimpse into the new series.

The Road to the Finals: Plot and Previous Installments

The Kesshō Member Ketteisen anime is a direct continuation of The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal. The preceding U-17 World Cup Semifinal series, which premiered in October 2024, centered on the intense match between Japan and Germany. Both U-17 World Cup anime series are sequels to the original The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup, which aired in 2022.

The overarching narrative of The Prince of Tennis II follows tennis prodigy Ryoma Echizen. After being expelled from Japan’s elite U-17 training camp for breaking rules, Ryoma gets a chance to try out for the U.S. team, leading him to compete against his former friends in an international tournament. The new series will specifically delve into the intense playoff matches within the Japanese team to select the final members for the World Cup final.

Production Details and Franchise Legacy

While specific staff details for Kesshō Member Ketteisen were not immediately confirmed at the time of the initial sequel announcement, previous Prince of Tennis II anime installments have seen Keiichirō Kawaguchi direct at Studio KAI and M.S.C, with Mitsutaka Hirota supervising scripts and Akiharu Ishii handling character designs. Yoshinobu Tokumoto also directed at M.S.C.. Chihiro Tamaki composed the music for U-17 World Cup Semifinal.

The Prince of Tennis franchise began with Takeshi Konomi’s manga series in 1999, followed by The Prince of Tennis II manga which debuted in 2009. The series has since expanded into numerous anime television series, OVAs, films, and even stage musicals, cementing its place as a beloved sports anime staple. Crunchyroll has been streaming the previous Prince of Tennis anime series, including The Prince of Tennis II: U-17 World Cup Semifinal, offering both English dubs and subs for fans. This allows viewers to catch up on the story before the new sequel airs.
