Plot and Expectations for Season 4

Season 4 picks up after the events of Season 3, which covered the “Fallen Heroes Arc” (volumes 10-12 of the light novel). The new season is based on the light novel series written by Aneko Yusagi and illustrated by Seira Minami. Hitoshi Haga returns as the series director, with Keigo Koyanagi handling series composition.

The central conflict of Season 4 revolves around Naofumi’s journey to Siltvelt and the escalating tensions concerning Raphtalia. Following an assassination attempt on Raphtalia by agents from Q’ten Lo, who mistakenly believe her to be a throne usurper, Naofumi travels to Siltvelt, where he is revered as a demi-human savior. Raphtalia, meanwhile, becomes a revolutionary symbol for the volatile Q’ten Lo.

Viewers can expect drama, action, and political machinations as Naofumi navigates this complex situation. The season is anticipated to explore Raphtalia’s origins and her evolving role, alongside Naofumi’s challenging journey to Q’ten Lo. The unresolved plot points from Season 3, such as the looming Phoenix threat and Raphtalia’s character development, are key elements for the new season. The defeat of the Phoenix is expected to set the stage for future guardian beasts in potential subsequent seasons.

The light novel series continues beyond the events of Season 3. For those eager to delve further into the story, the anime’s third season concluded around Volume 12 of the light novel. Therefore, readers can pick up the story from Volume 13 onwards to continue Naofumi’s adventures.
