The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of the romantic comedy isekai light novel series, “There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” (Yūsha Party ni Kawaii Ko ga Ita node, Kokuhaku Shite Mita), is officially slated to premiere on January 6, 2026. The announcement was made via the anime’s official website, which also unveiled a new main visual and additional cast members.
The series will begin airing at 11:00 p.m. JST on Tokyo MX, HBC, RKB Mainichi Broadcasting, and BS11. Crunchyroll is confirmed to stream the anime worldwide, excluding Asia, but including India and the Indian Subcontinent.
Anime Adaptation Details and Production
The anime is based on the light novel series written by Suisei and illustrated by La-na, as well as its manga adaptation by Kairi. Animation studio Gekkou is producing the series. Yasutaka Yamamoto (known for Medalist and Servant × Service) serves as chief director, with Tomonori Mine (Isekai Onsen Paradise) as director. Yukie Sugawara is handling the series composition and scripts, while Mina Osawa is responsible for character designs. The music is composed by Satoru Kōsaki and MONACA.
Plot Overview: A Demon’s Forbidden Love
“There Was a Cute Girl in the Hero’s Party, So I Tried Confessing to Her” follows the unique predicament of Yōki, a man who, after a traffic accident, is reincarnated as a mid-tier demon in a fantasy world. Tasked with confronting the hero’s party, Yōki unexpectedly falls in love at first sight with the party’s kind-hearted priestess, Cecilia. Despite his demonic nature and his role as an enemy, Yōki resolves to confess his feelings, sparking an unusual romantic comedy as he navigates his forbidden love in a world of adventure and conflict.
Expanding the Cast: New and Previously Announced Voice Actors
The latest announcement revealed two new cast members joining the ensemble. Iori Noguchi will voice Happiness, a harpy and former subordinate of Yōki, and Ayumu Murase will play Raven, the swordsman of the hero’s party and current leader of the Knight’s Order.
These new additions join a previously announced cast, which includes:

- Kana Hanazawa as Cecilia
- Ryōhei Kimura as Yūga
- Yūko Natsuyoshi as Mikana
- Toshiki Masuda as Duke
- Minami Tanaka as Seek
Original Works and Serialization
The original light novel series by Suisei began serialization on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in July 2013. Futabasha later published three print volumes under its Monster Bunko imprint between October 2014 and August 2015. A manga adaptation, with artwork by Kairi, commenced serialization in Futabasha’s Gaugau Monster magazine in January 2021 and has released 12 collected volumes as of July 2025. La-na is also credited as the anime’s original character designer.
