The trailer highlights the challenges Renako faces after her dramatic high school debut, where she unexpectedly receives confessions from two popular classmates: the “school’s ultimate prince,” Mai Oduka, and the “beloved angel of the campus,” Ajisai Sena. The footage teases Renako’s struggles to navigate these affections, even as she attempts to use a cosplay event to help her friend Kaho as a temporary distraction.

Studio MOTHER is handling the animation production for There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… ~Next Shine~. The sequel’s staff includes Natsumi Uchinuma as director, Naruhisa Arakawa overseeing the series composition and script, and kojikoji responsible for character designs. Yoshiaki Fujisawa is composing the music.
The returning voice cast features Kanna Nakamura as Renako Amaori, Saori Onishi as Mai Oduka, Yukari Anzai as Ajisai Sena, Kana Ichinose as Satsuki Koto, and Takako Tanaka as Kaho Koyanagi.

While the new trailer for ~Next Shine~ focuses on the upcoming theatrical release and plot points, the theme songs for the original There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… series, which aired from July to September 2025, were previously performed by Akari Nanawo and Philosophy no Dance. Akari Nanawo sang the opening theme song, “Muri Muri Evolution (The Impossible Theory of Evolution),” and Philosophy no Dance performed the ending theme song, “Mayocchauwa (I’m Confused).”
About the Series
The There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless… anime is based on the yuri romantic comedy light novel series written by Teren Mikami and illustrated by Eku Takeshima. The story follows Renako Amaori, who, after a lonely junior high experience, aims for a fresh start in high school. She quickly befriends the popular Mai Oduka, only for their relationship to take an unexpected turn with a romantic confession. The light novel series began publication in February 2020 under Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko label, and a manga adaptation by Musshu also launched in May 2020. Both the light novel and manga are licensed in English by Seven Seas Entertainment.
