The highly anticipated second part of “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” Season 2 officially premiered on July 6, 2025, in Japan, continuing the anime’s “restart” project announced in December 2022. The first part of the second season aired from January 12 to March 30, 2025, comprising 12 episodes. This new installment builds upon the supernatural mysteries of Kamome Academy, further delving into the world of Hanako-kun, Nene Yashiro, and Kou Minamoto.
A Phased Return to Kamome Academy
The “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” anime franchise has seen a multi-phase return since its initial 2020 run. Following the announcement of a “new anime project” in December 2022, fans were treated to a series of releases leading up to the current season.
After-School Hanako-kun Spin-off
The “restart” project first delivered an anime adaptation of the spin-off manga, After-School Hanako-kun. The first season of this short anime, consisting of four 10-minute episodes, aired from October to November 2023. A second four-episode season of After-School Hanako-kun followed, airing in October 2024.
Main Series Continuation
The main “Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun” anime then returned with its second season, which began in January 2025. This season is being released in two cours, with the first part concluding in March 2025 and the second part starting in July 2025.
Production and Staff Details
Studio Lerche, which animated the first season, continues to be in charge of animation production for the second season. Yōhei Fukui, who previously directed episode 10 of the first season, has taken over as the main director for Season 2, replacing Masaomi Andō.
Key staff members from the first season have returned for the new installment, including Yasuhiro Nakanishi as the series screenwriter and Mayuka Itou as the character designer. The opening theme song for the second season is “L’oN” by Masayoshi Ōishi, while the ending theme is “With a Wish” performed by Akari Kitō. The returning main voice cast includes Megumi Ogata as Hanako-kun, Akari Kitō as Nene Yashiro, and Shoya Chiba as Kou Minamoto. The second part of Season 2 also features Ryoka Yuzuki joining the cast as Sumire.
