Tokyopop, a leading publisher of manga and graphic novels, has announced the acquisition of three new Boys’ Love (BL) manga titles for release in Spring 2025. The announcement signals a continued expansion of Tokyopop’s BL offerings, promising readers a diverse range of stories featuring heartwarming romance, supernatural elements, and emotionally complex characters. The newly licensed titles include: My Noons and Midnights Are for You, My Fluffy Moody Crush, and Monster and Ghost.

New Titles Coming Soon

These titles are slated for release in Spring 2025. Each manga offers a unique premise and artistic style, catering to a wide spectrum of BL fans.

My Noons and Midnights Are for You

This manga is written and illustrated by Luria, My Noons and Midnights Are for You explores themes of identity, self-acceptance, and the courage to be true to oneself. The story revolves around Mayo, who lives a double life as the popular V-tuber Mahiru. Online, Mahiru is known for his cheerful and outgoing personality, but in reality, Mayo struggles with gloominess and lacks self-confidence.

The Allure of the Virtual World:

As Mahiru, Mayo enjoys the adoration of his audience, but he longs to be accepted and loved for who he is beneath the virtual persona. The manga delves into the challenges of navigating online and offline identities, particularly in the context of romance.

My Fluffy Moody Crush

From the mind of Nayuta Nago, My Fluffy Moody Crush takes place in a world where humans and demi-humans coexist. Kou, a half-human, half-vampire working at a café, has intentionally avoided forming close bonds with humans after a traumatic childhood incident made him aware of his dangerous attraction to their blood.

A Second Chance at Friendship and Love:

When Kou’s childhood friend, Itsuki, reappears and starts working at the same café, Kou’s carefully constructed world begins to crumble. Itsuki is determined to rekindle their friendship, but Kou is hesitant, fearing that his vampire nature will put Itsuki in danger.

Forbidden Love and Self-Control:

My Fluffy Moody Crush explores themes of forbidden love, self-control, and overcoming past trauma. As Itsuki and Kou grow closer, Itsuki develops romantic feelings for Kou, leading to a push and pull between their desires and the potential consequences of their relationship.

Monster and Ghost

Written and illustrated by Himemiko, Monster and Ghost presents a story about redemption, acceptance, and the power of love to change even the darkest of hearts. Koton Tsubaki, a delinquent with a violent past, has his life turned upside down when he encounters Yuuki Kabuto, the sweet and optimistic ghost of a young man.

A Delinquent and a Ghost:

The unlikely duo forms a connection, and Yuuki’s presence begins to soften Koton’s hardened exterior. As they spend time together, Koton starts to confront his past and seeks a path toward a brighter future.

Finding Light in the Darkness:

Monster and Ghost explores themes of redemption, acceptance, and the transformative power of love. The relationship between Koton and Yuuki highlights the beauty of finding light in darkness and the importance of human connection, regardless of one’s past.

Tokyopop’s Commitment to BL

The acquisition of these three BL titles reinforces Tokyopop’s commitment to the genre and its growing popularity among readers. By offering a diverse range of stories and artistic styles, Tokyopop aims to cater to the evolving tastes of BL fans and introduce new readers to the genre. This announcement follows Tokyopop’s recent licensing of other BL titles, demonstrating the publisher’s dedication to expanding its presence in the BL market.

Other Recent Tokyopop Licenses

In addition to the newly announced BL manga, Tokyopop has also recently licensed several other manga titles across different genres, including romance and fantasy. These include:

  • I’ll Never Fall in Love With Amano
  • You Can’t Live All on Your Own
  • Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim Manga
  • The Unwanted Bride Loves the Crown Prince With All Her Heart
  • My Contract with the Apothecary Monster
  • The Margrave’s Daughter and the Enemy Prince
  • The Inconvenient Life Of an Arousing Priestess
  • “Trapped by His Love: The Duke’s Unexpected Bride”

What is Boys’ Love (BL)?

Boys’ Love (BL) is a genre of manga, anime, and related media that depicts romantic relationships between male characters. While often targeted towards a female audience, BL has gained popularity among diverse readerships for its focus on emotional intimacy, character development, and exploration of love and relationships. BL stories often delve into themes of identity, self-discovery, and societal expectations, resonating with readers seeking nuanced and heartfelt narratives.

Anticipation Builds for Spring 2025 Releases

The announcement of these new BL manga licenses has generated excitement among fans, who eagerly anticipate their release in Spring 2025. With their diverse themes, engaging characters, and captivating artwork, My Noons and Midnights Are for You, My Fluffy Moody Crush, and Monster and Ghost are poised to become popular additions to Tokyopop’s ever-growing catalog of manga titles.
