Adult Swim’s Toonami programming block is set to expand its anime offerings with the addition of two highly anticipated series: Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga and Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2. Fans can mark their calendars for November, as both shows are slated for their U.S. television premieres.
Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga Premieres November 8th
The popular supernatural action series Blue Exorcist makes its return to Toonami with Beyond the Snow Saga. The English dub for Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga will premiere on Toonami starting November 8th at midnight EST, following the rebroadcast of the first season which began November 2nd.
What is Blue Exorcist?
Blue Exorcist follows Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he is the son of Satan and possesses demonic powers. After his guardian, Father Shiro Fujimoto, dies protecting him, Rin enrolls in True Cross Academy to become an exorcist and defeat his biological father. The manga series by Kazue Kato began serialization in 2009 and has over 25 million copies in print.
Beyond the Snow Saga Story Details
Blue Exorcist: Beyond the Snow Saga is part of the fourth season of the anime, which aired in Japan from October 6 to December 22, 2024. This arc delves into the story of Shura Kirigakure as she confronts her destiny, and the darker side of the Knights of the True Cross comes to light. Rin and his twin brother Yukio journey to Lake Towada in Aomori to find Shura, uncovering secrets about her past and the fate that awaits her. Meanwhile, Arch Knight Lightning investigates the Illuminati and their connection to the “Blue Night”.
Mashle: Magic and Muscles Season 2 Joins the Block
Also joining Toonami’s lineup on the same night is the second season of the hit comedy-action series, Mashle: Magic and Muscles. Titled Mashle: Magic and Muscles – The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc, it will premiere on November 8th at 1 AM EST.
The World of Mashle: Magic and Muscles
Mashle: Magic and Muscles is set in a world where magic is everything. The story centers on Mash Burnedead, a young man who, despite being born without magic, compensates with incredible physical strength. He enrolls in a magic academy, aiming to become a Divine Visionary to ensure a peaceful life with his family, all while keeping his lack of magic a secret. The anime adaptation is produced by A-1 Pictures.
The Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc
Season 2, which originally aired in Japan from January 6 to March 30, 2024, adapts the manga’s “Divine Visionary Candidate Exam Arc”. This arc sees Mash and his allies competing against other skilled mages in a series of challenges, including the Deadervant Haunt and The Life Crystal mission. It introduces new characters, including school Prefects, and further raises the stakes for Mash as he strives to achieve his goal. The opening theme song for the second season is “Bling-Bang-Bang-Born” performed by Creepy Nuts.
