The anime adaptation of Masayuki Abe’s “Tsuyokute New Saga” light novel series is gearing up for its premiere, and the latest updates have fans excited. A second promotional video has been released, revealing more of the cast, theme song information, and confirming the July 2 debut date. Here’s a breakdown of everything we know so far about this highly anticipated isekai anime.

A Long-Awaited Premiere

Originally slated for July 2023, “Tsuyokute New Saga” faced a two-year delay due to “various circumstances”. Now, the anime is finally set to premiere in July 2025, bringing the tale of Kyle, the magic knight, to life on screen.

Synopsis: A Second Chance

“Tsuyokute New Saga” tells the story of Kyle, a skilled magic swordsman who, after a year of intense war, finally defeats the Demon Lord. However, Kyle is critically injured in the battle. As he approaches a relic once held by the Demon Lord, he’s sent back in time four years to the beginning of the demon invasion.

Armed with the memories and experiences of his previous life, Kyle decides to use this opportunity to prevent the tragedies that befell him and those around him. He reunites with loved ones he had lost and embarks on a new journey to save the world from destruction.

Production Changes

The anime adaptation has seen some significant changes in its production team. Initially, Norikazu Ishigooka was set to direct the series with studios Yokohama Animation Laboratory and Makaria handling animation production. However, the current director is now Naoki Mizusawa, with Naoki Horiuchi as series unit director. Studio Clutch is now co-producing the animation with Sotsu, with assistance from STUDIO MASSKET.

Kenta Ihara remains in charge of the series scripts, Nilitsu is still credited for the original animation character designs, and Atsushi Asahi is listed as the character designer. Shacho of Soil & “Pimp” Sessions and Hironori Anazawa are composing the series’ music.

New Cast Members and Theme Songs

The second promotional video unveiled additional cast members:

  • Takehito Koyasu as Ganias
  • Yoko Hikasa as Yulriga

These new additions join the already stellar cast:

  • Yūma Uchida as Kyle
  • Hiro Shimono as Seran
  • Fairouz Ai as Lise
  • Asami Seto as Urza
  • Minami Takahashi as Sildonia
  • Kaori Maeda as Milena
  • Hiroki Yasumoto as Zentos
  • Riho Sugiyama as Miranda
  • Rie Hikisaka as Gou
  • Tetsu Inada as Gazas

The opening theme song is “Enja” performed by 4s4ki, while the ending theme song is “her” performed by Mahiru Coda. Both songs can be previewed in the second trailer.

Broadcast and Streaming

“Tsuyokute New Saga” is scheduled to premiere on July 2, 2025, with broadcasts on ABC TV. It will then air on Tokyo MX on July 3, AT-X on July 4, and BS12 on July 5.

Streaming platforms include:

  • Early: d Anime Store, d Anime Store (Prime Video), Nico Nico (Thursdays from July 3)
  • General: Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT, DMM TV, AnimeFesta, Hulu, Bandai Channel, etc. (Saturdays from July 5)
  • Catch-up: TVer, TELASA, milplus (Saturdays from July 5)

From Light Novel to Anime

“Tsuyokute New Saga” began as a light novel series written by Masayuki Abe and illustrated by Ryuta Fuse. It was serialized online from May 2012 to June 2018 before being published by AlphaPolis from April 2013 to July 2018, completing 10 volumes.

A manga adaptation with art by Jun Miura was serialized online via AlphaPolis’ manga website between February 2014 and July 2023, also spanning 10 volumes. Alpha Manga publishes the manga digitally in English.

What to Expect

With its blend of action, adventure, fantasy, and time travel elements, “Tsuyokute New Saga” promises to be an exciting addition to the isekai genre. The protagonist’s knowledge of the future provides a unique twist, as he strives to prevent past tragedies and create a better future for himself and his companions. The changes in the production team may have raised some eyebrows, but the latest trailer and cast announcements have renewed anticipation for this long-awaited anime adaptation.
