The original anime “Turkey!”, initially promoted as a high school bowling story, has unveiled a significant plot twist, new official title, a second full promotional video, a third key visual, and additional cast members following the broadcast of its first episode. The series is now officially titled “Turkey!-Time to Strike-“.

The Unexpected Plot Twist

While early promotions suggested a coming-of-age sports anime centered on high school girls and their bowling club, the ending of the first episode revealed a surprising genre shift. The five members of the Ikkokukan High School Bowling Club — Mai Otonashi, Rina Kodai, Sayuri Ichinose, Nozomi Mitake, and Nanase Nikaidō — find themselves unexpectedly time-traveling to Sengoku (Warring States) era Japan after a bowling ball begins to glow and envelops them in a mysterious light. This transforms the narrative into a unique blend of bowling and historical adventure, where the girls must navigate an era of war and political intrigue while seeking a way back home.

New Title, Video, and Visual Elements

The new title, “Turkey!-Time to Strike-“, directly reflects this dramatic shift in the storyline. Alongside the title, Pony Canyon and Bakken Record released a second full promotional video and a third key visual. The visual, often titled ‘Bowling x Time Slip,’ prominently features the girls within a more fiery, historical setting, signifying the unexpected turn of events. The new trailer also showcases the expanded scope of the anime, highlighting the time-travel aspect and the challenges the girls face in the Sengoku period.

Expanded Voice Cast

To accommodate the expanded historical scope of the story, several veteran voice actresses have joined the cast. The new cast members, who portray characters from the Tokura clan in the Sengoku era, include:

  • Noriko Hidaka as Sumomo
  • Yūko Minaguchi as Akebi
  • Kikuko Inoue as Suguri
  • Miki Itō as Anzu
  • Rei Sakuma as Natsume

These additions join the previously announced main cast members:

  • Hana Hishikawa as Mai Otonashi
  • Kana Ichinose as Rina Kodai
  • Haruki Iwata as Sayuri Ichinose
  • Yūki Tenma as Nozomi Mitake
  • Ayasa Itō as Nanase Nikaidō

Production and Streaming Details

“Turkey!-Time to Strike-” is an original Japanese anime television series animated by Tatsunoko Production under their Bakken Record label, and produced by Pony Canyon. Susumu Kudo is directing the anime, with Naomi Hiruta handling the script, and Airi Takekawa serving as character designer and chief animation director. Pony Canyon is also in charge of music production, and Yuki Hayashi is composing the music.

The series premiered in Japan on July 8, 2025, on NTV, with subsequent broadcasts on BS NTV and TV Shinshu. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime globally as it airs in Japan.
