Get ready for a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse! A new TV anime, “In a World Full of Zombies, I’m the Only One Who Doesn’t Get Attacked,” is slated to premiere in 2026, promising a unique twist on the genre. Here’s everything we know so far about this upcoming series that’s generating buzz among anime fans.
What’s the Story?
The anime is adapted from the light novel series “Zombie no Afureta Sekai de Ore Dake ga Osowarenai” written by Rokuro Uraji and illustrated by Saburo. The story centers around Yusuke Takemura, a former salaryman with a rather self-centered personality. In a world overrun by zombies, Takemura discovers he’s somehow immune to their attacks after surviving a zombie bite.
Instead of becoming a zombie-slaying hero, Takemura uses his immunity to act on his own desires in the crumbling ruins of civilization. The official Anime News Network describes it as a “zombie panic action” story where Takemura’s behavior defies typical protagonist tropes, making it a hot topic among readers.
Where Did It Come From?
Rokuro Uraji originally launched the story on the R18 version of the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2013, concluding it in 2017. Frontier Works published three volumes of the series with illustrations by Saburō between 2016 and 2017. The series also has a manga adaptation illustrated by Chihiro Masuda, which began in June 2021. Frontier Works is set to release the fourth manga volume soon, with an English version available on MangaPlaza.
Production Details
The anime adaptation was first announced in February of last year, with the official announcement of its 2026 premiere on April 2nd, 2025. It will be broadcast on the Japanese television network AT-X. As of now, further details regarding the production, such as the cast and staff, are yet to be confirmed, so stay tuned for updates!
