“Kamitsubaki City Under Construction” is a mixed-media project created by Kamitsubaki Studio, launched in 2019. It encompasses various forms of entertainment, including songs, videos, a tabletop game, and a video game. The anime series, produced by SMDE, is the latest addition to this expanding universe.
The story is set in Kamitsubaki City, a technologically advanced metropolis that has miraculously recovered from a devastating disaster seven years prior. However, beneath the city’s gleaming surface lies a hidden danger: Tesseractor, monsters born from human malice and desire. The only ones capable of confronting this threat are the Witchling, five magical girls who wield the power of song. They fight to protect the city and heal the broken world with their voices.
“Utahime”: The Songstress’s Ballad
The opening theme, “Utahime,” performed by V.W.P., sets the stage for the anime’s narrative. The virtual artist group consists of the voice cast members who play the five main characters:
