The comedic manga series Chanto Suenai Kyūketsuki-chan, also known as Vampires Chan Can’t Suck Properly or Vampire-chan Who Can’t Suck Properly, is set to premiere as a television anime series in 2025. This announcement was made by Happinet, revealing the main cast, staff, and a teaser visual for the upcoming show. The anime is adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Kyōsuke Nishiki.

A Hilarious Premise

The manga, which began serialization in Fujimi Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age magazine in May 2021, centers around Luna Ishikawa, a high school transfer student. Luna appears to be a cool, mysterious, and commanding figure, excelling in academics and sports, which makes her quite popular. However, she harbors a secret: despite being a vampire, she is terrible at sucking blood.

Her classmate, Tatsuta Ōtori, is an average student who tends to blend into the background. He discovers Luna’s secret, leading to an unlikely arrangement. Tatsuta becomes Luna’s “Mama,” allowing her to practice blood-sucking on him to improve her skills. This sets the stage for a humorous and heartwarming story of a vampire struggling with her vampiric nature and the classmate who helps her overcome her peculiar problem.

Production Details

The anime adaptation is being directed by Sayaka Yamai, known for their work on Dungeon People and Fantasy Bishōjo Juniku Ojisan to, at studio Feel. Yuniko Ayana, who has worked on series such as BanG Dream! and Given, is in charge of the series scripts. Takuya Tani, known for Muv-Luv Alternative and Mysterious Disappearances, is designing the characters.

Main Cast

The main cast members have also been announced:

  • Minami Tanaka as Luna Ishikawa, the vampire transfer student who is secretly inept at sucking blood.
  • Kenshō Ono as Tatsuta Ōtori, the classmate who discovers Luna’s secret and becomes her practice partner.

About the Characters

Luna Ishikawa: Voiced by Minami Tanaka, Luna is a second-year high school student with a cold and mysterious reputation. She is popular but struggles with her inability to properly suck blood, which she tries to compensate for by consuming sweets. She develops feelings for Tatsuta, who supports her in overcoming her difficulty.

Tatsuta Ōtori: Voiced by Kensho Ono, Tatsuta is Luna’s classmate who is generally unremarkable. After learning about Luna’s vampiric secret, he offers his blood to help her practice, leading to a close and supportive relationship.

Studio Feel.

Feel. is the animation studio behind the Vampires Chan Can’t Suck Properly anime adaptation. While not as widely known as some larger studios, Feel. has a track record of producing visually appealing and engaging anime series across various genres. Their involvement suggests a focus on capturing the comedic and heartwarming elements of the original manga.

Other Anime Adaptations in 2025

The anime adaptation of Vampires Chan’t Suck Properly is part of a larger wave of new and returning anime series slated for release in 2025. These include:

  • Solo Leveling Season 2
  • One Piece: Egghead Arc
  • Fire Force Season 3
  • Black Butler – Emerald Witch Arc-
  • Devil May Cry

Manga Details

The manga Chanto Suenai Kyūketsuki-chan is written and illustrated by Kyōsuke Nishiki. It has been serialized in Monthly Dragon Age since May 8, 2021. As of October 2024, the manga has been compiled into seven volumes.

What to Expect

Fans of comedy and slice-of-life anime can likely expect a charming and funny series. The core of the story revolves around the vampire Luna, who defies the typical vampire image, and the kind-hearted Tatsuta, who helps her with her unusual problem. The series may explore themes of friendship, self-acceptance, and overcoming personal challenges, all wrapped in a comedic package.

With a talented team at Feel., experienced writers, and a promising cast, Vampires Chan’t Suck Properly has the potential to become a popular anime series in 2025.

Seven Arcs

It’s important not to confuse Feel. with Seven Arcs. Seven Arcs is another Japanese animation studio with a notable history. Established in 2002, Seven Arcs is known for series like Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. In 2019, Seven Arcs Pictures absorbed Arcturus and Seven Arcs and changed its name to Seven Arcs Co., Ltd.

Reception and Anticipation

The announcement of the anime adaptation has been met with excitement from fans of the manga and anime community. Many are looking forward to seeing the characters brought to life on screen and experiencing the humor and heart of the story in animated form. The series is expected to appeal to a wide audience, including fans of comedy, slice-of-life, and supernatural anime.
