Manga Origins

Watari-kun’s * Is About to Collapse* is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Naru Narumi. It was initially serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Young Ace magazine from August 2014 to June 2015 before moving to Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine, where it ran from November 2015 to September 2023. The series has been compiled into 16 tankobon volumes. Kodansha USA has licensed the manga in English in digital formats.

Story Premise

Naoto Watari’s life is far from simple. After the death of his parents, he and his sister find themselves living with their aunt. Naoto’s unwavering dedication to his sister has made him known as “the guy with the sister complex,” a label he doesn’t mind. However, his peaceful life is upended when Satsuki, his childhood friend, re-enters his life as a transfer student. Satsuki’s arrival brings chaos and threatens to disrupt Naoto’s carefully constructed world, testing his devotion to his sister and forcing him to confront buried memories.
