The official website for Yaiba: Samurai Legend, the new television anime adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s Yaiba manga, has unveiled a new promotional video and a fresh visual for its second cour. This second part of the anime, referred to as “Cour 2,” officially began on June 28, 2025.
The new trailer and key visual were released ahead of the 13th episode’s broadcast in Japan, marking the beginning of Yaiba’s quest for the Dragon God’s Jewel, a new arc titled the “Orb-Hunting Arc.” Wit Studio, known for works like Attack on Titan and Spy x Family, is handling the animation for this latest adaptation of the manga. The series initially premiered on April 5, 2025, and is available for weekly streaming on Netflix in select regions, including the United States, Canada, most Latin American regions, Australia, and New Zealand, with Hulu also carrying the rights in the US for a weekly simulcast release shortly after new episodes air on Nippon TV in Japan.
Further details for the second cour include the addition of Sayaka Senbongi to the voice cast as Nadeko Yamato, a character who met Yaiba in his childhood and has been training while believing in his promise to marry her once he becomes stronger. The opening theme song for Cour 2 will continue to be “BLADE” by BLUE ENCOUNT, but in a “Kizuna ver.” featuring the song’s second verse to emphasize the bonds Yaiba forms with his allies. The new ending theme song is “ACTION!” by Kairi Yagi⚡️Denon Yugi, inspired by Yaiba’s passionate adventures.
Yaiba: Samurai Legend is the second anime adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s manga, which was serialized from September 1988 to December 1993. The manga follows Yaiba Kurogane, a young samurai-in-training who returns to Japan from the jungle and finds himself embroiled in adventures after encountering his rival, Takeshi Onimaru. The series is directed by Takahiro Hasui, with Touko Machida handling the series scripts and Yoshimichi Kameda serving as character designer and chief animation director.
