The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Yui Tamura’s romantic comedy manga, Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days (also known as Yano-kun no Futsu no Hibi), has unveiled additional cast members, key staff, and its opening theme song in its first promotional video. The series is set to premiere in October 2025.
The anime, which was initially announced in November 2024, centers on the endearing, accident-prone high school boy Tsuyoshi Yano and his perpetually worried classmate, Kiyoko Yoshida.
Unveiling the Voices: New Cast Members Join the Ensemble
While Kohei Amasaki and Yuka Nukui were previously announced as the main voice cast for Tsuyoshi Yano and Kiyoko Yoshida, respectively, the latest promotional video has revealed several new additions to the cast. Atsumi Tanezaki, Taito Ban, Rie Takahashi, and Ryōta Iwasaki are joining the cast, bringing more of the manga’s beloved characters to life. Amasaki and Nukui have both expressed their excitement for the series, with Amasaki noting how the manga warmed his heart and Nukui expressing her thrill at being part of a series she’s loved as a reader.
Behind the Scenes: Production Staff Details
Studio Ajia-do is handling the animation production for Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days. The directorial reins are held by Shinpei Matsuo, known for his work on Ascendance of a Bookworm season 3 and as an episode director for Kakushigoto and Kemono Jihen.
Deko Akao, who has contributed to the scripts of Arakawa Under the Bridge and Ragna Crimson, is in charge of the series composition. Character design is being handled by Toshihisa Kaiya, whose credits include Ascendance of a Bookworm and World Trigger. The musical score for the anime will be composed by Hideakira Kimura, recognized for his work on Cerberus, Gundam Build Divers, and Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE.
Setting the Tone: The Opening Theme Song
The first promotional video also revealed the opening theme song for the anime: “POP LIFE” by FANTASTICS. FANTASTICS previously performed “Yellow Yellow,” the theme song for the live-action film adaptation of Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days, which premiered in November 2024. FAST LANE is credited with the lyrics, composition, and arrangement of “POP LIFE.”
The Story of Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days
Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days is a romantic comedy that follows the daily life of Tsuyoshi Yano, a high school boy who consistently finds himself in unfortunate situations, often arriving at school with new injuries. Kiyoko Yoshida, his diligent and caring class representative, can’t help but worry about him. As Kiyoko begins to tend to Yano’s constant mishaps and observes his “unlucky” daily life, a romance gradually blossoms between the two. The manga, created by Yui Tamura, has been serialized on Kodansha’s Comic Days website since June 2021.
