The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Yui Tamura’s romantic comedy manga, Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days (Yano-kun no Futsū no Hibi), is officially set to premiere in October. Fans can rejoice as the main cast, key staff members, and the television format have been unveiled, promising a faithful and engaging adaptation of the beloved series. This announcement follows the successful live-action film adaptation that premiered in Japan in November 2024, further building excitement for the anime’s debut.

Anime Adaptation Details Emerge

Happinet has officially confirmed the anime adaptation of Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days, revealing a teaser visual and a special video that showcase the main characters and offer a glimpse into the anime’s style. The series will follow the heartwarming story of Tsuyoshi Yano, an incredibly unlucky high school student, and Kiyoko Yoshida, his classmate who constantly worries about his well-being.

Main Cast Announcement

The anime will feature the following main cast members:

  • Kōhei Amasaki as Tsuyoshi Yano: Amasaki, known for his role as Will in Wistoria: Wand and Sword, will voice the perpetually unlucky Yano. Amasaki expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “When I read the original work, it warmed my heart very much. I want to watch over Yano and the others’ casual yet very precious ‘ordinary days’! I want to gently support them! I think it’s a heartwarming work that will make current students and former students alike laugh, cry, and feel their hearts flutter.”
  • Yuka Nukui as Kiyoko Yoshida: Nukui, who played Anne in Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, will voice the caring and concerned Kiyoko Yoshida. Nukui shared her excitement, saying, “As a reader, I’ve always loved this work…!! I’m really happy and honored!! Kiyoko is an honest, reliable, and kind girl… I will also have to face her honest, precious girlish heart honestly. A thrilling, all-powerful pure romantic comedy! I can’t wait to see it as an anime! I want all mankind to watch it! Thank you very much!”

Key Staff Members

The anime adaptation is being brought to life by a talented team of staff members:

  • Director: Shinpei Matsuo ( Kakushigoto episode director, Ascendance of a Bookworm season 3).
  • Series Composition: Deko Akao (Arakawa Under the Bridge, Komi Can’t Communicate, Ragna Crimson).
  • Character Design: Toshihisa Kaiya (Ascendance of a Bookworm, World Trigger).
  • Music: Hideakira Kimura (Gundam Build Divers, Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE).
  • Animation Studio: Ajia-do (Ascendance of a Bookworm).

Storyline

Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days centers around the relationship between Tsuyoshi Yano and Kiyoko Yoshida. Yano is known for his extreme bad luck, often arriving at school covered in injuries. Yoshida, the class representative, can’t help but worry about him and his constant misfortunes.

As Yoshida observes Yano’s daily life, she resolves to support him, leading to a heartwarming and humorous romantic comedy. The story explores themes of caring, support, and the development of feelings in unexpected circumstances. The pure love story between an anxious girl and a clumsy, unlucky boy is sure to resonate with audiences.

Manga and Live-Action Adaptation

The Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days manga, written and illustrated by Yui Tamura, began serialization on Kodansha’s Comic Days website in June 2021. As of March 2025, the manga has been compiled into ten tankōbon volumes.

The live-action film adaptation, directed by Takehiko Shinjō, premiered in Japanese theaters on November 15, 2024. The film stars Yusei Yagi as Tsuyoshi Yano and Anji Ikehata as Kiyoko Yoshida. The live-action movie features the insert song “Staying with You” by Travis Japan.

Where to Watch

The Yano-kun’s Ordinary Days anime is scheduled to begin airing in October 2025. Details regarding specific streaming platforms and international availability are expected to be announced closer to the premiere date. Keep an eye on official announcements from Crunchyroll and other anime news sources for updates on where to watch the series.
