The highly anticipated anime adaptation of Kōcha Agasawa’s romantic comedy manga, “You and I Are Polar Opposites” (Seihantai na Kimi to Boku), has announced that voice actors Miyuri Shimabukuro and Wataru Katō will be joining its cast. The duo will lend their talents to the roles of Azuma and Taira, respectively, adding further depth to the endearing high school romance set to premiere in January 2026.
This latest casting news builds excitement for the series, which promises to bring the award-nominated manga to life with its charming portrayal of an unlikely couple.
Exploring the World of “You and I Are Polar Opposites”
“You and I Are Polar Opposites” centers on the evolving relationship between Miyu Suzuki and Yusuke Tani, two high school students who are, as the title suggests, polar opposites. Suzuki is depicted as an energetic, outgoing girl who often goes with the flow, while Tani is a quiet, introverted boy who isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Suzuki harbors a crush on Tani but struggles to express her feelings, setting the stage for a delightful romantic comedy that also explores the dynamics within their circle of friends.
The original manga, written and illustrated by Kōcha Agasawa, was first published as a one-shot in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ service in January 2021 before being serialized from May 2022 to November 2024. It has garnered significant acclaim, ranking second in the 2022 Next Manga Awards in the Web Manga category and appearing on several “best manga” lists.
