Fans of the mystery-fantasy series You Can’t Bluff the Sharp-Eyed Sister (Seijo ni Uso wa Tsūjinai) can mark their calendars, as the manga adaptation by Yo Asami is slated to resume in the March issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Magazine. The return will initiate a “new series” following a three-chapter sidestory.
A New Chapter for Chloe’s Adventures
The announcement of the manga’s return came in the November issue of Monthly Shonen Magazine. This follows an earlier revelation in the August issue, released on July 4, that the manga had concluded its “current series” but would begin a “new series” sometime soon. The upcoming March issue will kick off this new phase, much to the anticipation of its readership.
The Story So Far: Wit, Mystery, and a Card Shark Priestess
You Can’t Bluff the Sharp-Eyed Sister introduces readers to Chloe, a seemingly prim and naive novice training to be a priestess in a quiet countryside church. However, her nights reveal a different side as she masterfully plays cards, winning significant sums due to her sharp eyes and quick wit.
Her unusual talents eventually draw the attention of Heraldo, a rising holy knight from the capital. Heraldo, mistakenly believing Chloe possesses a rare magical “Gift,” enlists her aid to investigate a two-year-old murder that threatens the stability of the kingdom. The narrative follows Chloe as she navigates palace intrigue, using her intelligence and observational skills to solve the mystery, all while keeping her true methods a secret from those who expect supernatural intervention.
Creative Minds Behind the Manga
The manga is an adaptation of a novel by Natsu Hyūga, acclaimed author of the popular The Apothecary Diaries. Yo Asami launched the manga adaptation in Monthly Shonen Magazine in March 2023. Kodansha has been publishing the compiled book volumes, with the fourth volume released on February 17, and the fifth volume scheduled for September 17.
English Release Details
For international fans, Kodansha USA is actively publishing the manga in English. The first volume is set to be released on October 21, 2025. The second English volume is also available for pre-order, with an expected release date of December 23, 2025. This ensures that English-speaking readers will be able to follow Chloe’s intriguing investigations as the series continues its run.
