The highly anticipated TV anime adaptation of Kamio Fukuchi’s romantic comedy manga, “Yowayowa Sensei,” has officially revealed its main cast and is slated to debut in April 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual, generating excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the animated version of the beloved “weak-willed teacher” story.
Key Voice Actors Bring Characters to Life
Two pivotal roles have been cast, bringing experienced voice talent to the forefront of this charming romantic comedy.
Marika Kōno as Hiyori Hiwamura
Marika Kōno will lend her voice to the main heroine, Hiyori Hiwamura. Hiwamura, a newly assigned English teacher who recently graduated from university, is known for her extreme shyness, weak voice, and lack of stamina. Despite her genuine devotion to her students, her timid nature often leads to misunderstandings, earning her the nickname “Scary-Scary Sensei” (Kowakowa Sensei). Kōno previously voiced Hiyori in a promotional video for the manga, making her return to the role a welcome announcement for fans.
Kakeru Hatano as Akihito Abikura
Second-year high school student Akihito Abikura will be voiced by Kakeru Hatano. Akihito, who desires a peaceful school life, becomes central to the story when he accidentally discovers Hiwamura-sensei’s true, vulnerable nature. He takes it upon himself to help his clumsy teacher overcome her shyness and clear up the misconceptions surrounding her.
Plot Overview: A Gap Moe Romantic Comedy
“Yowayowa Sensei” (“Weak-willed Teacher” or “Ms. Feeble”) is a romantic comedy that centers on the endearing contrast between appearance and reality. The story follows Akihito Abikura, a high school student whose homeroom teacher is Hiyori Hiwamura. Initially perceived as “Scary-Scary Sensei” due to rumors fueled by her shy demeanor and a notebook full of sticky notes, Hiyori is actually incredibly timid and “yowayowa” (weak-willed) in every sense.
Akihito’s accidental discovery of Hiyori practicing teaching alone with a stuffed animal reveals her true, misunderstood nature. This leads him to offer his help, becoming a key figure in her journey to overcome shyness and build confidence. The series promises a heartwarming and slightly daring romantic comedy filled with “gap moe” moments as Akihito strives to support his teacher and correct the students’ mistaken impressions.
