Yoruhashi, the creator of the dark fantasy manga series “The Kingdoms of Ruin,” is reportedly launching a new manga series in August. While specific details about the new project are still under wraps, fans of Yoruhashi’s work are eagerly anticipating what the creator has in store.

What We Know So Far

Currently, details surrounding the new manga are scarce, but here’s what we can infer:

  • Creator: Yoruhashi, the author and illustrator of “The Kingdoms of Ruin.”
  • Launch Date: Expected to launch sometime in August.
  • Genre: Given Yoruhashi’s previous work, it’s possible the new series will also explore themes within the fantasy genre, potentially with dark or mature elements.

About “The Kingdoms of Ruin”

To understand the potential direction of Yoruhashi’s new work, let’s delve into the world of “The Kingdoms of Ruin”.

Premise

“The Kingdoms of Ruin” (Japanese: Hametsu no Oukoku) is set in a world where humanity and witches once coexisted peacefully. However, the advent of a scientific revolution renders the witches’ powers obsolete. Fueled by resentment and fear, the Redia Empire, the world’s leading nation, initiates a brutal witch hunt, exterminating all witches from the land.

Story

The story follows Adonis, a witch’s apprentice who witnesses the tragic death of his beloved teacher, Chloe. Consumed by grief and rage, Adonis vows to exact revenge on the empire that stole everything from him. The manga depicts a bloody conflict between science and magic, exploring themes of revenge, prejudice, and the consequences of technological advancement.

Publication

The manga series began serialization in Mag Garden’s Monthly Comic Garden magazine in April 2019. It has also been published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment since December 1, 2020.

Anime Adaptation

In 2023, “The Kingdoms of Ruin” received a television anime adaptation, further expanding its fanbase. The anime was directed by Keitaro Motonaga at Yokohama Animation Lab, with series composition by Takamitsu Kono and character designs by Hiromi Kato. The main cast included Kaito Ishikawa as Adonis and Azumi Waki as Doroka.

Other Works by Yokohama Animation Lab

Yokohama Animation Lab, the studio behind the anime adaptation of “The Kingdoms of Ruin”, has also worked on other notable anime series, including:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen: An anime adaptation.
  • Legend of Mana: An anime adaptation for the well-known video game.
  • Monster Strike: The television version.

Anticipation and Expectations

Given the success and dark themes explored in “The Kingdoms of Ruin,” fans can expect Yoruhashi’s new manga to deliver a similarly compelling and thought-provoking narrative. The new series may delve into complex characters, explore mature themes, and feature stunning artwork, solidifying Yoruhashi’s position as a prominent figure in the manga industry.
