Toshiya Miyata, a voice actor and member of the boy band Kis-My-Ft2, is collaborating with Iqura Sugimoto to launch a manga adaptation of Miyata’s novel, “Kyōkai no Melody” (Melody of the Boundary). The manga will be published in the June issue of Kadokawa’s Young Ace magazine, which will be released on May 2, 2025.
The Story Behind the Melody
“Kyōkai no Melody” tells the story of Kyōsuke, a musician who loses his partner, Kai, just before their big debut. Devastated by the loss, Kyōsuke distances himself from music. Three years later, Kai suddenly reappears and tells Kyōsuke that doing nothing is the same as being dead, which inspires Kyosuke.
Miyata originally launched “Kyōkai no Melody” as a light novel with illustrations by LAM in May 2024. The story was also released as a drama CD, featuring Kent Itō as Kyōsuke Tsumuraki, Daisuke Sakuma as Kai Amano, and Miyata himself as the narrator, with music by Ryūtarō Fujinaga (Elements Garden).
A Collaborative Effort
Iqura Sugimoto is credited as handling the story and art for the manga adaptation. Sugimoto has previously worked on manga series and is known for their artistic style and storytelling abilities. Toshiya Miyata is credited for the original story.
