The Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~ manga series has ended with the release of its second and final volume. This news marks the conclusion of the latest installment in the Duel Masters franchise, a multimedia series popular for its manga, anime, trading card game, and video games.

What is Duel Masters?

Duel Masters revolves around a trading card game where players use cards from five civilizations – Fire, Water, Light, Darkness, and Nature – to battle each other. The original story follows Shobu Kirifuda, a young boy striving to become the best duelist, just like his father.

Duel Masters LOST: A Darker Spin-Off

Duel Masters LOST stands out as a distinct branch within the broader Duel Masters universe, presenting a darker and more intense narrative compared to the original series. While the main series caters to younger audiences and competitive card battles, LOST delves deeper into dramatic storylines. The LOST series explores themes of mysteries, supernatural forces, and high-stakes duels.

Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~ Manga

Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~ is a sequel manga to Duel Masters LOST: Tsuioku no Suisho. Written by Shigenobu Matsumoto and illustrated by Yō Kanebayashi, the manga debuted on August 8, 2024, on Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic website.

  • Shigenobu Matsumoto: Credited as the original creator of the Duel Masters franchise.
  • Yō Kanebayashi: Illustrator of the Duel Masters LOST manga series.

The first compiled book volume of Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~ was released in late February 2025. The second and final volume is scheduled for release on March 28, 2025.

Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~ Anime

An anime adaptation of Duel Masters LOST ~Gekka no Shinigami~, produced by J.C.STAFF, began streaming in Japan on December 21, 2024, on the franchise’s “DuelTube” YouTube channel and other platforms. Riki Fukushima directed the anime, Yoichi Kato handled the series composition, and Chikara Hashizume served as the character designer. The anime series concluded on February 28, 2025, with a total of four episodes, each lasting approximately 23 minutes.

  • Director: Riki Fukushima
  • Series Composition: Yoichi Kato
  • Character Design: Chikara Hashizume
  • Animation Studio: J.C.STAFF

The anime features two characters from Duel Masters Win:

  • Win Kirifuda: Voiced by Shoutarou Uzawa
  • Abyssbell = Jashin Emperor (Jashin-kun): Voiced by Wataru Hatano

Storyline

Duel Masters LOST is an “alternate time story” set at the same time as Duel Masters Win. It follows Win Kirifuda, a 16-year-old who has lost everything from his old world and is drawn into a high-stakes battle to reclaim what was his. Half a year prior to the events of the series, Win woke up in Shinjuku City, Tokyo, with no memories of his past. As mysterious incidents occur frequently, with people suddenly disappearing, Win’s life transforms with the appearance of Crysta, a mysterious transfer student who claims to know everything about him.

Other Duel Masters LOST Media

The Duel Masters LOST series also includes the “Abyss Revolution Gaiden: Death Bell Crystal” card pack, which went on sale in Japan on February 17, 2024.
