The upcoming Fate/strange Fake anime has announced that Gakuto Kajiwara will be joining the cast as the voice of Sigma. This news comes as the series gears up for its continued release in 2025. The first episode, titled “The Heroic Spirit,” premiered on December 31, 2024, giving fans a taste of what’s to come in this unique installment of the Fate franchise.

What to Know About Gakuto Kajiwara

Gakuto Kajiwara is a Japanese voice actor and singer born on November 28, 1994, in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He is affiliated with Haikyo. Kajiwara is known for his roles in several popular anime series, including:

  • Asta in Black Clover
  • Shinra Kusakabe in Fire Force
  • Hitohito Tadano in Komi Can’t Communicate
  • Luka in Honkai: Star Rail
  • Hiiro Amagi in Ensemble Stars!

Kajiwara’s talent has been recognized with the Best New Actor Award at the 14th Seiyu Awards in 2020. He also voices characters in various games, such as Hiiro Amagi in Ensemble Stars!! and Allen Sugasano in Paradox Live THE ANIMATION.

Who is Sigma in Fate/strange Fake?

Sigma is a character in Fate/strange Fake who participates in the Holy Grail War in Snowfield. He works primarily as a mercenary, with “Sigma” (Σ) serving as a code name. Originally, the code was meant to identify him among 24 similar individuals, but he is now the only one remaining. Sigma is a Master in the Snowfield Holy Grail War and is the Master of Watcher. Due to magical surgery, Sigma appears younger than he is, but this also means that he has a shorter lifespan.

Sigma was once a child soldier in a country that used magic for military purposes. To conceal this, the Magic Association sent Francesca to destroy the country. Francesca took an interest in Sigma because he showed no emotion, even when confronted with his mother’s death. Later, Francesca taught him about his mother. Sigma’s real name is unknown; he uses his mother’s name, Hisa Umaiya, as a pseudonym on his fake passport, sometimes going by Hisau Sigma.

Fate/strange Fake: A Different Kind of Holy Grail War

Fate/strange Fake is based on the light novel series written by Ryogo Narita and illustrated by Morii Shizuki. The story revolves around a Holy Grail War that is a flawed copy of the Third Holy Grail War. After the Third War’s conclusion, an organization from the United States took data from the Fuyuki Grail War to create their own ritual in Snowfield. However, their inability to replicate every aspect perfectly leads to the summoning of strange Servants and unusual circumstances.

The anime TV series is produced by A-1 Pictures, with Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume directing, Daisuke Ōhigashi writing the scripts, Yūkei Yamada designing the characters, and Hiroyuki Sawano composing the music.

Release Information and Where to Watch

The first episode of Fate/strange Fake premiered on December 31, 2024, during the annual Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special. Subsequent episodes are scheduled to premiere throughout 2025. Crunchyroll has licensed the series for streaming in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East.
