The upcoming anime Food for the Soul (Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi), scheduled to premiere on April 12, 2025, has released a new promotional video featuring the ending theme song “Misoshiru to Butter” (Miso Soup and Butter) performed by singer-songwriter Reira Ushio. The video was revealed at the AnimeJapan 2025 panel.

Reira Ushio to Perform Ending Theme

Reira Ushio, a rising artist in the J-Pop scene, will perform the ending theme song “Misoshiru to Butter” for the anime Food for the Soul. This song was originally released in 2023.

About Reira Ushio

Born on February 9, 2002, Reira Ushio is a singer-songwriter from Edogawa Ward, Tokyo. She began writing lyrics and composing music at the age of 16, and made her major label debut on Sony Music Labels in August 2022. Ushio’s music often focuses on imagined characters, aiming to evoke individual feelings and interpretations through her songs. Her unique writing style, combined with her clear and resonant voice, has garnered attention and a growing fanbase. She describes herself as a singer-songwriter who writes songs about “someone who might be somewhere in this world”.

Ushio’s music blends electronic and acoustic elements. Some of her popular songs include “Sentimental. Kiss,” “Beboy,” “SayonaraCITY,” and “Tightrope”. “Sentimental Kiss” in particular gained significant traction on social media, especially among teens and those in their twenties, after being featured in the romance show “He and the Wolf Can’t Fool Me.” The music video for “Sentimental Kiss” has amassed over 15 million views.

In September 2024, Ushio embarked on her first Tomeihan tour, titled “Ushio Reira One Man TOUR 2024 ‘No one’,” visiting Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo.

Food for the Soul Anime Details

Food for the Soul (Hibi wa Sugiredo Meshi Umashi), also known as “Days Goes By But Food Is Delicious,” is an original anime television series created by Atto, the author of Non Non Biyori. The anime is produced by Aniplex and animated by P.A. Works.

Production Staff

The anime is co-directed by Shinya Kawatsura and Yū Harumi. Yoshihiro Hiki is in charge of the series scripts, while Hiromi Mizutani composes the music. Hajime Mitsuda is adapting Atto’s original character designs for animation and also serves as chief animation director.

Premiere Date

Food for the Soul is scheduled to premiere on April 12, 2025, and will be broadcast on Tokyo MX and other channels. Crunchyroll has licensed the series for streaming.

Opening Theme

The opening theme song for Food for the Soul is “Sora mon ne” performed by Asmi.

Manga Adaptation

A manga adaptation of Food for the Soul, illustrated by Quro, began serialization on Media Factory’s Comic Alive+ manga website on March 15, 2025.
