What is K Manga?
K Manga is Kodansha’s official manga app and platform for English-speaking audiences. Launched in the US in May 2023, K Manga provides access to a wide variety of Kodansha manga titles, including both popular classics and newer series. K Manga also offers simulpub releases, allowing readers to enjoy chapters of ongoing manga shortly after they are released in Japan. K Manga is available on iOS and Android.
Recently, K Manga has expanded its availability to include the Philippines, India, Brazil, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
What is Simulpub?
Simulpub is short for simultaneous publication. In the context of manga and anime, it refers to the practice of releasing new chapters or episodes in multiple languages and regions at the same time as, or shortly after, their original release in Japan. This allows international fans to stay up-to-date with their favorite series and reduces the need for unofficial translations.
NakiNagi Joins K Manga
On April 1, 2025, Anime News Network reported that K Manga announced the addition of NakiNagi as a simulpub title. This means that fans can read the latest chapters of NakiNagi on K Manga shortly after they are released in Japan.
About NakiNagi
NakiNagi is a manga series created by Keigo Maki, the author of Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie. The manga debuted on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket manga service.
The story follows Nakika, a quiet witch who was once feared as the witch of the deep sea. Nakika begins a new life on the surface to learn about human emotions. There, she meets Nagisa, a naive and romantic girl who becomes Nakika’s best friend. While Nakika doesn’t always understand Nagisa’s infatuation with love, her compassion for Nagisa is deeper than the Pacific Ocean. Nakika uses her magical powers to support Nagisa’s quest for love, and in doing so, gradually learns about human emotions.
