The beloved father from “Crayon Shin-chan,” Hiroshi Nohara, is stepping into the spotlight with his own TV anime adaptation of the “Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi” (The Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch) cuisine manga. This delightful spinoff focuses on Hiroshi’s lunchtime rituals and culinary adventures as a salaryman.

Hiroshi’s Gourmet Journey to the Small Screen

TV Asahi made the exciting announcement on Wednesday, March 11, 2025, that Yōichi Tsukahara’s “Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi” manga will be adapted into a television anime. The anime is scheduled to premiere on BS Asahi in October, promising a season filled with lunchtime stories and gourmet explorations.

Production Details and Key Staff

The anime adaptation is being directed by Tsukasa Nishiyama, known for works like “Mugyutto! Black Clover” and “The Human Crazy University.” The animation will be produced at DLE in Flash-style, with Shin-Ei Animation, the studio behind “Crayon Shin-chan,” also credited for production support. The scripts are being penned by Hasyashi Mori (“Cells at Work! Code Black,” “Sand Land”) and Moral (“Shin-chan”). Koutarou Yamawaki is designing the characters, and Akifumi Tada is composing the music, ensuring a delightful audio-visual experience.

DLE’s Animation Prowess

DLE (Dream Link Entertainment) is a Tokyo-based animation and entertainment company founded in 2001. Known for its Flash animation expertise, DLE has produced over 30 properties, including the popular “Eagle Talon” series. The studio has also collaborated on various projects, including “Thermae Romae” and, more recently, “The Human Crazy University”. DLE’s experience in animation production makes it a fitting choice for bringing Hiroshi’s lunchtime stories to life.

Toshiyuki Morikawa Returns as Hiroshi Nohara

Fans of “Crayon Shin-chan” will be thrilled to hear that Toshiyuki Morikawa is reprising his role as Hiroshi Nohara. His familiar voice will once again bring the iconic character to life, adding authenticity and nostalgia to the anime adaptation.

A Salaryman’s Guide to Lunchtime Delights

“Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi” explores the culinary world through the eyes of Hiroshi Nohara, a 35-year-old salaryman. With limited time and money, Hiroshi’s lunch choices are shaped by his workplace environment and financial constraints. The manga delves into the details of his meals, offering food trivia and humorous takes on workplace challenges, such as treating seniors, dealing with workloads, and navigating difficult bosses.

Manga Origins and Publication

Yōichi Tsukahara launched the manga in Futabasha’s Manga Town magazine in December 2015. After the magazine ceased publication in December 2023, the manga transitioned to the Manga Crayon Shin-chan website, ensuring fans could still follow Hiroshi’s lunchtime escapades. As of May 2024, Futabasha had published 12 compiled book volumes of the manga.

Broadcast Schedule

The anime is scheduled to air on Fridays at 11:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. EDT), offering a perfect way to unwind and enjoy a lighthearted take on the everyday culinary experiences of a Japanese salaryman.

A Nod to “Professional: Shigoto no Ryūgi”

The manga’s title, “Nohara Hiroshi Hirumeshi no Ryūgi,” is a playful reference to the popular long-running workplace documentary series “Professional: Shigoto no Ryūgi” (Professional: The Style of Work). This connection adds an extra layer of depth and humor to the series, appealing to fans of both “Crayon Shin-chan” and Japanese workplace culture.
