Get ready for more nocturnal adventures! HIDIVE has officially announced that it will be exclusively streaming the highly anticipated second season of the anime series Call of the Night. Fans can rejoice as the supernatural romance drama continues its captivating story this July as part of HIDIVE’s Summer 2025 simulcast season.

What to Expect in Season 2

Call of the Night Season 2 promises to deliver more of what fans loved about the first season: a unique blend of romance, comedy, and supernatural elements, all set against the backdrop of a vibrant and mysterious nighttime world. The series delves into the complexities of love and identity, pushing the boundaries of the romance anime genre.

Release Date and Streaming Details

  • Release Window: July 2025.
  • Streaming Platform: Exclusively on HIDIVE.
  • Territories: HIDIVE will stream the series in North America, Europe, Oceania, and selected Latin American and Asian territories.
  • Premiere Sneak Peek: Anime Expo 2025 attendees will get an early look at the second episode during a special panel on Saturday, July 5th. The panel includes a sneak peek of the first half of episode 2 and a post-screening Q&A.
  • The anime will air on Fuji TV’s Noitamina programming block and affiliate channels in Japan on Fridays at 11:30 p.m. JST / 10:30 a.m. EDT. The first season will also be re-broadcasted on Fuji TV starting April 11, 2025.

Production and Staff

Studio Liden Films is returning to produce the animation for Season 2. Tomoyuki Itamura will direct the second season, with Michiko Yokote handling the writing, Haruka Sagawa designing the characters, and Yoshiaki Dewa composing the music. Izumi Takizawa and Nao Miyoshi are serving as assistant directors for the sequel.

New Characters and Voice Cast

Season 2 introduces a new character, Kiku Hoshimi, who will be voiced by Rina Sato.

Story Arc

Season 2 will likely adapt volumes #6-#10 of the original manga, continuing the story from where season 1 concluded. This season will delve into Kou and Nazuna’s conflict with detective Uguisu.

About Call of the Night

Call of the Night is based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Kotoyama. The manga was serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Shōnen Sunday from August 2019 to January 2024 and compiled into 20 volumes. Viz Media has licensed the manga for English release in North America.

The first season of the anime adaptation, produced by Liden Films, aired from July to September 2022. It consisted of 13 episodes and quickly gained a dedicated following for its distinctive art style, engaging characters, and unique premise.

Premise

The story follows Ko Yamori, an insomniac who finds solace in nighttime walks. During one of these walks, he meets Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire who introduces him to the wonders of the night. Ko becomes fascinated with vampires and desires to become one himself. To achieve this, he must fall in love with Nazuna.
