The manga series “Solo Camping for Two” (Futari Solo Camp), written and illustrated by Yūdai Debata, is entering a hiatus due to the author’s health. The announcement was made in this year’s 32nd issue of Kodansha’s Morning magazine.
The manga will be on hold starting with the next issue, and as of the announcement, no specific return date has been provided.
“Solo Camping for Two” began its serialization in Kodansha’s Evening magazine in 2018. After Evening ceased publication in February 2023, the series continued with three special chapters on the Comic Days manga app before resuming in Morning magazine in December 2023. As of April 2025, 20 tankōbon volumes of the manga have been released.
The series follows Gen Kinokura, a 34-year-old who prefers solo camping, and his unexpected encounters with Shizuku Kusano, a 20-year-old beginner camper. The manga was nominated for the 45th Annual Kodansha Manga Awards in 2021.
In addition to the manga, “Solo Camping for Two” has inspired both a live-action television drama, which debuted in January 2025, and an anime adaptation set to premiere in July 2025. The anime will be streamed by Crunchyroll.
