What is #Compass?

#Compass—Combat Providence Analysis System is a real-time online strategy game for iOS, Android, and Amazon Fire devices where three players team up and battle against other teams to capture points placed on a virtual map. Each battle lasts for three minutes, demanding quick strategic thinking and teamwork. Players can collect skill cards that allow a variety of strategies through different card combinations, allowing them to build the strongest deck of cards and prepare for battles.

NDN Playart Corp. describes it as a PvP game of an entirely new genre, in which the elements of action games, strategy games and card games are all condensed and packed into three-minute-long battles.

The game launched in Japan in December 2016 and in China in November 2019. It has achieved over 15 million downloads since its release. The game inspired a series of four-minute anime shorts from TMS Entertainment and Echoes in 2018, highlighting its widespread popularity and appeal. The franchise also encompasses several manga and novel projects.

Storyline Overview

The anime is set in the world of #Compass 2.0, a dreamlike space where heroes from many different worlds gather to spend time with their human counterparts, the players. The energy generated by the heroes’ battles is essential to maintaining the world, making battling their core responsibility.

However, the story focuses on 13, a troubled hero who refuses to find a partner or battle, putting him on the verge of banishment from the world of #Compass 2.0. Meanwhile, Jin, a beginner player, takes an interest in 13 as a potential partner. A major incident begins to unfold in the world of #Compass 2.0, and 13’s special ability may be the key to resolving the crisis. The central question is whether 13 and Jin can restore peace to the world of #Compass 2.0.

Theme Songs Add to the Anime’s Appeal

Nana Mizuki’s opening theme song “Hakudō” (Pulse) and Yuma Uchida’s ending theme song “Heartache” will contribute significantly to the anime’s overall appeal. Uchida is also cast as one of the main characters, Beethoven, in the upcoming spring 2025 TV anime Classic Stars and will release his 12th CD single, “Singularist,” on April 2, 2025, simultaneously with “Heartache.“

With its intriguing storyline, talented cast and staff, and captivating Theme Songs, #Compass 2.0 is poised to be a must-watch anime in the Spring 2025 season.
