The paranormal mystery battle and romantic comedy anime Dan Da Dan is officially returning for a second season! Here’s everything you need to know:
Premiere Date and Streaming
Dan Da Dan season 2 is set to premiere on July 3, 2025, in Japan. Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.
Theatrical Release: Evil Eye
Before the season officially drops, the first three episodes will be screened theatrically outside of Japan as Dan Da Dan: Evil Eye.
Here are the release dates:
- Asia (excluding Japan): May 30, 2025 (from Muse)
- North America: June 6, 2025 (from GKIDS)
- Europe: June 7, 2025 (from ADN)
The theatrical screenings will also include an exclusive interview with co-directors Fuga Yamashiro and Abel Gongora.
New Cast Member
A new cast member has been announced for season 2: Mutsumi Tamura (known for voicing Kobayashi in Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) will voice Evil Eye (Jashi).
Production
Science SARU is producing the second season, with Fūga Yamashiro and Abel Góngora both credited as directors. Gongora was the storyboarder and unit director on the first season and directed the opening theme animation.

Season 1 Recap
Dan Da Dan follows Momo Ayase, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun, an occult fanatic. Momo believes in ghosts but denies aliens, while Okarun believes in aliens but denies ghosts. After rescuing Okarun, they argue about their beliefs. To prove each other wrong, Momo visits an abandoned hospital known for UFO sightings, and Okarun goes to a haunted tunnel. They encounter paranormal entities, Momo awakens her hidden power, and Okarun gains the power of a curse. Together, they challenge paranormal forces.
Manga
Dan Da Dan is based on the manga by Yukinobu Tatsu, serialized in Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ digital manga magazine since April 2021. As of April 2025, 19 volumes have been released. Viz Media publishes an English language version.
What to Expect in Season 2
Season 2 is expected to cover the Cursed House arc, starting from chapter 34 and going through chapter 50 of the manga. However, the key visual also hints at the rhythm training that takes place in chapter 57 and is part of the Evil Eye arc, which continues until chapter 62. It may also touch on the Kaiju Arc.
